There are lot of opportunities and ways in which one can leverage on to make some bucks online or offline legitimately, most especially for the stay at home mom or mothers who maybe did not qualify for maternity allowance.

Maybe as a mom you lost your job and have nothing to really fall back on and you have pushed to get a better paid job that will give you the time to take care of your kids at home but to no avail, worry no more.  

Because I will be revealing to you in this piece of article opportunities online that will help you to make some dollars to take care of your family bills and other expenses and at the same time give you freedom and breathing space for other activities.

(1) Virtual Assistant: As a stay at home mom, becoming a virtual assistant will help you to make some pretty money for yourself. So what’s the work of a virtual assistant or who is a virtual assistant? A virtual assistant is someone who provides an administrative support to clients remotely and they perform variety of tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing emails, handling social media accounts, conducting research etc.

As a virtual assistant you work base on time schedule and typically the pay is around $20 to $25 per hour.

(2) Online Travel Agent: This is another great opportunity for stay at home moms because there are lots of companies out there who are willing to pay you just to plan vacations for individuals and business trips. The pay as an online travel agent ranges from $15 to $30 per hour depending on your experience level and as far as requirement is concerned, you will need to have an administrative background assuming you don’t have any travel agent or travel industry background. 

This type of job really requires you to be organized because you are coordinating someone’s travel, so your planning includes getting on and off of the plane of the individuals, their car rentals and hotel reservations etc.

(3) Transcriber Job: Being a transcriber or transcriptionist is another pretty way one can earn money at home as a stay at home mom. This is a non-phone friendly opportunity, however I won’t forget to mention that you have to make sure that you are able to control the noise in your environs. 

This I because as a transcriber, you will be listening to audio files and type out what you hear. The average pay a transcriber receives is about $15 per hour and as you become more experienced and professional your pay increases. As an experienced or professional transcriber, you will be earn anywhere around $25 to $30 per hour.

The basic requirement as a transcriber is being able to listen carefully, having a good typing skills, that’s being able to type very fast because the faster you type the better. At least you should be able to type 80 to 90 words per minute.

Becoming a transcriber as a stay at home mom is a great way to earn money and definitely is something worth giving a try.

(4) Online Book Keeper: A bookkeeper is someone who helps to manage the financial records of a company. This is an aspect where every business, company, individuals who makes money will really need help, this is because as a business owner or a company if you are making a lot of purchases or having a lot of expenses. 

Then it can be challenging to keep up with that on your own. You may need to hire someone who can manage that for you and that is where bookkeeping really have a role to play. The pay for working as a bookkeeper is pretty good and it typically ranges anywhere around $50 to $60 per hour.

To become a bookkeeper, you will have to either have an accounting degree or get a bookkeeping certification. If you are someone who likes numbers, staying organized and don’t mind looking at spreadsheets, then becoming a bookkeeper may be a good opportunity for you.

(5) Online Loan Officer: An online loan officer is someone who assists customers and business individuals to choose a loan product and applying for it. They handle all the paper works in between and there could be quite a lot of paper works to handle especially when you are dealing with a mortgage. 

To become a loan officer, you will need to have your bachelor’s degree and if a company doesn’t require bachelor’s degree then you will need some college certification or to pass a loan officer licensing exam.

(6) Blogger/Freelancer: As a stay at home mom, you can become a blogger or a freelancer. You can choose to build your own blog site where you can publish your articles, it could be news articles or as a mom can go into food blogging, that is, you write articles of different recipe and share with your audience.

Then you can make money from your blog by applying to ads network like Google Adsense, Astera or join affiliate marketing platforms like Clickbank, JV Zoo, Amazon etc.

If you don’t want to create your own blog, you can also become a freelancer, you write articles for news companies, or websites and you get paid for the services.

 (7) Online Insurance Agent: This opportunity will require someone who have a background in the commercial insurance and on marketing aspect, however, it literally doesn’t matter what area of insurance.

Insurance is one of the best industry where you have to help people and most of the time the opportunities are during traditional business hours like Monday through Friday, and you have your weekends free.

They also have 24/7 call centers online which you can do if you like working during weekends and non-traditional hours. Most of the opportunities requires little or no experience to startup or get hired.

The average pay as an online insurance agent is about $20 per hour. There are lots of companies that will get you trained and also secure license for you. If you are a stay at home mom, insurance will be a great career for you.

(8) Data Entry Clerk: As a data entry clerk, you are responsible for typing every provided information into your employer’s system. This depends on your employer’s type of business or field. 

Data entry clerk enters various information which includes market research responses, prescription information, time and location data etc. most of the data entry positions are entry level which may not necessarily require candidates to have any previous experience or higher degree certificate. The average pay as a data entry clerk is about $40,400 per year.

(9) Selling Of Courses Online: As a stay at home mom, you can create digital products or E-books like training materials on a particular topic, then you sell it to your audience. You can use your website or social media platform to reach out to your audience.

Ideas on digital courses that can be sold online are parenting, food recipe, cooking etc. if you don’t have website for selling your e-books, no worries, you can utilize Amazon kindle or any other online store that sell e-books.

This has to do with creating and scheduling contents designed to grow and nurture brand across social media platforms.

As a social media manager, you are responsible for planning and create social media campaign. Generally, there are lot of ways in which stay at home mom can earn or make extra money, this really depends on what you can do and the skills you’ve got.
